George Brecht Chance Process

This book was created based off a George Brecht essay on Randomness, using chance processes to inform the design decisions for layout and typographical choices.

The book was divided into an alpha-numeral grid on which quadrants were randomly selected using a die and random letter generator to decide the starting point of each paragraph on each page. The breaks in the header words were decided using playing dice as well.

The lines across the spreads were drawn by blindfolded, intoxicated, and dizzy college students. They were handed a sharpie and pointed to a large drawing pad and instructed to draw a straight line.
